I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community and as long as I live it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work, the more I live. I rejoice in life for its own sake. Life is no brief candle to me; it is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for the moment and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it to future generations

Pukalani School Garden

This school has been waiting for close to 2 years for a school garden/outdoor educational space…we began with mini gardens so that we could be teaching classes outdoors right away while the larger space came together. Thanks to some amazingly dedicated teachers, and a team of ‘Aina angels…we finally broke ground. Stay tuned to watch this garden come to life…

Lanai School Garden

We now have the micro-garden in the upper campus, and the Hawaiian Studies garden area, and we are in the process of expanding into a 1/3 acre parcel behind the new Science/Technology building. The hope is to be able to have an outdoor educational center where the students can be given a chance to learn about land remediation, composting, creating food forests, Native restoration, rain-gardens, irrigation installation, aquaponics, alternative energy solutions, raising chickens/ducks/rabbits, making fertilizers and amendments from what is locally available…and what it takes to make steps towards a more regenerative food-secure island.
