Tree planting in the UK
We have an exciting future as we step up our work to help the UK become carbon neutral as quickly as possible as the government declares its strategy to plant more trees.
PATT has joined the HEYWoods community forestry steering group tasked with planting 1.2 million trees in the Hull & East Riding area which is part of the UK governments plans to create the Northern Forest planting 50 million trees along the M62 corridor from Liverpool to Hull.
PATT has also launched our own initiative One ‘Hull’ of a Forest (OHOF) aimed at planting 200,000 trees within the city, which has the lowest amount of woodland cover in the UK with only 2.6% against a national average of 8.4% a figure that we hope to dramatically reverse especially when we link the creation of woodlands, not only to habitat creation and climate reduction strategies but attribute it to assisting to reduce mental issues and also help combat Anti Social Behavior (ASB).
